Brownies and Guides
THE GUIDES
Over the last Guide year, September 2008 to September 2009, we had a full and active time :
Two of the Guides attended a weekend event in the Lake District, Guides attended an indoor holiday weekend for the festival of light at Pettypool lodge. December saw us carol singing - we raised £90, which we sent to the Smile Train charity.
All the Guides took part in a county bowling competition and three of our Guides got through the play-offs and were part of a team of six representing our division and they won the competition.
We had a back to basic's camp in May at the Pettypool campsite. Two Guides moved on in the movement - one to be a young leader for a rainbow unit and a ranger guide, the other became a young leader here at Darnnall.
We attended the district camp-fire event, the Guides between them achevied 111 interest badges and three Guides were awarded with their Baden Powell badges.
FinallY the unit was represented at an International event by a Guide and guider which took place in Amsterdam.
Guides Centenary year started in September 2009, and continues until October 2010. And September saw us at the race course in Chester for Sparkle which was the Cheshire county opening event. October we went to London for the Guides big gig concert at Wembley Arena at which JLS, Alexandra Burke, Pixie Lotte, The Noisettes, Chipmunk, Saturdays and many more performed. We also went on the London Eye, walked along the Thames, over the Jubilee bridge to Whitehall, on to Horse Guards Parade, cross the road to St James' Park, ending up at Buckingham Palace.
December saw us putting on a Christmas pla and coffee evening for parents and villagers. We did a bag-pack at Morrison's and raised £475.88 to
help with the cost of the International camp we are attending in the
summer.
